Welcome to the home of Unit 16 Cambridgeshire Nucleotides!

We are a group of 36 young people and 4 adult volunteers from Cambridgeshire preparing for one of the biggest adventures Scouting has to offer. If you’re browsing our store, you’re already part of our story, and we’re excited to share who we are and what makes this unit so special.

Why “Nucleotides”?

Our name reflects the heart of our identity. Just as nucleotides are the tiny building blocks that make up DNA, every young person in Unit 16 brings something unique and essential. Individually, we’re all different, we have different strengths, different stories, different backgrounds. But together, we form a team full of energy, creativity, and possibility. DNA itself has deep roots in Cambridgeshire. It was at Cambridge University that the first structure of DNA was first uncovered in 1953 by James Watson and Francis Crick.

Who We Are

Unit 16 is made up of Scouts aged between 14–18 from every corner of Cambridgeshire. What defines us isn’t just where we’re going, but how we’re getting there. Over the next two years, we’ll be building friendships, learning new skills, challenging ourselves, representing our communities, and growing into confident, capable young adults.

Our Story So Far

Since forming, Unit 16 has been busy shaping our identity and building our bond. We’ve chosen our name, created our badge, launched our store, and started showing up at events across Cambridgeshire. We’ve run activities, met supporters, and begun the long road of preparation that leads to the Jamboree. But more importantly, we’ve become a team which cheers each other on, works hard, and proudly represents Cambridgeshire.

How You Fit Into Our Journey

While our focus is on growth, adventure, and representing our county with pride, attending a World Scout Jamboree does come with costs. That’s why you’ll see badges, neckers, and other items here in our store. Every young person and adult volunteer must raise £3,500 in order to attend this event. Every purchase helps support our journey, but more than that, it connects you to our story. You become part of the community that lifts us up and helps make this once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience possible.

Thank You for Being Here

By visiting our store, you’re helping us grow, dream, and take steps toward an adventure we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.
